It is enough to turn any neighbourhood green with envy. While the world grappled with complex environmental issues, a small revolution was taking place in our own backyard. The determined efforts of just one woman transformed a barren piece of land into a green haven.

Meet Asha Gandhi - a wife, mother of four and a green warrior in her own right. If today the 2.75 acre municipal park facing her R-Block residence in the New Rajinder Nagar locality of Delhi looks like something straight out of a picture postcard from Hawaii, it's only because Gandhi decided to take the spirit of civic participation to a whole new level.
